Tuesday May 5 2026.
The workshop takes place in Taormina, a perfect base also to explore Sicily’s culture, history and beautiful scenery. The workshop offers a flexible approach and is organized to accommodate participants at various levels, also participants without previously documented skills. However, as a preparation you will be asked what you would personally aim to improve during the workshop. It would be great if you could bring along 3-4 photos made recently that you are particularly happy with.
The workshop aims to stimulate participants’ creativity through seeing and composing pictures;
in short to make use of all our senses to find inspiration to create great pictures, maybe even art? This will be the main focus of our three working days. The time does not allow for darkroom or advanced digital picture editing work. The programme will also contain short lectures on art history, on Sicilian history and on photography and techniques in general. Lectures and individual commenting on photos will be held in English and Norwegian (depending on participants’ languages).
And last but not least; you will of enjoy lots of delicious Sicilian food and wine.
The number of participants will be limited to maximum 8 persons. We will stay at La Prora, a
beautifully renovated villa close to Taormina city center. The house has seven bedrooms, all with
ensuite bathrooms. We also offer the option to bring a partner or a friend who does not want to
participate in the workshop on a shared-room basis.
Recommended photo equipment to bring along:
- A camera you are familiar with. To train a bit in advance on the camera you plan to use is an
advantage. You may in addition of course also use your mobile camera - A tripod for your camera, if possible
- Your personal computer with a picture editing programme installed.
Lightroom Classic offers a free version to be downloaded.

Registration is binding. We kindly ask that NOK 6000,- of the workshop fee/deposit be paid at
registration. The remainder of the fee has to be paid at the latest 1 March 2026. Should you cancel
after this point in time you will be refunded 70% of the workshop fee. A cancellation after 19 April
2026 will not be refunded.
Course tutor Siri Wolland:
Siri has graduated from Fotoskolan (Stockholm), Croydon College of Fine Art and has a
Masters Degree in Art History from the Oslo University. She has wide photographic experience from documentaries, film, fashion, commercials and has also worked with art and culture in a wider scope.

Guide and host Astrid Løken Øyehaug
Astrid has studied business administration and worked close to 30 years in financial markets. She has
now dedicated herself to tourism, culture, food and wine. She fell in love with Sicily more than 25
years ago and has returned to the island on countless occasions. In 2014 she and her husband bought La Prora and spent the next three years renovating the property. Astrid will act as your local guide.
She is also a dedicated hobby chef and will see to that you leave with solid memories of the pleasures of
the Sicilian kitchen.
